ABOUT PUBLIC WATER SOLUTIONS

It all started with a major metropolitan city to have its entire sewage system mapped with advanced robotics and analyzed by the University of Texas Arlington’s Center for Structural Engineering, Research, Simulation and Pipeline Inspection (CSERSP).

From this effort the benefit of such a collaboration with CSERSP for other utilities made sense and that is how Public Water Solutions was actualized. PWS is, in effect, the marketing and management effort of our partners.

Our Partnerships Make The Difference

PWS’ capabilities came together thanks to the efforts of our partnerships with UTA and others. UTA provides the robots to take on a pipeline network in almost any condition. These robots are consistently able to collect and transmit data in significantly harsh environments. The analytical methods used in evaluations were at the University of Texas at Arlington’s Center for Structural Engineering, Research, Simulation and Pipeline Inspection.

What This Partnership Means For You:

The frustration with pipe replacement has been the expense and disruption of digging up streets and sidewalks. A pipe segment can’t be replaced without a dig, so the solution up until today has been to replace long stretches of pipe based on statistical modeling. The modeling predicts when and where pipe integrity will be at risk, but these methods are very general and result in large, and in some cases, unnecessary replacement projects.

Now there is an option that allows pinpointing analysis onto almost each and every pipe segment, freeing up much-needed funds. Pipe replacement becomes micro-surgery instead of amputation. Another benefit is that fewer digs result in smoother vehicle traffic flow. Citizens are much happier with their local governments when they spend less money and cause less congestion.

UTA has developed advanced robotic approaches that have proven to be economical and sustainable methods of pipeline evaluation. Our segment to segment focused methods are moving aside traditional statistical models for evaluating sewage pipelines. Our efforts with cities are also proving popular with the public as local media coverage has been positive.
